PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Monday (July 28, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that Southwest Monsoon continues to prevail over the Philippines.
The southwest monsoon will bring generally cloudy weather conition with chances of light to moderate rain are forecast over Metro Manila.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.
Occasional rains are expected over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan. Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan will have heavy rainfalls.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms are expected over the rest of the country.
“In Metro Manila, where our president’s Sona will be held, the sky is generally still cloudy today with light to moderate rains,” Badrina said.
“There is a higher likelihood of rain, with occasional heavy showers in the afternoon and evening,” he added.
On the other hand, two weather cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Tropical Storm Emong was last spotted at 985 kilometers northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Krosa was last located 2,455 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains,
The coastal water condition over Extreme Northern Luzon will be rough. The western section of Luzon will have moderate to rough waters. Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions is expected over the rest of the country, according to PAGASA.
