MARCOS SONA 2025 – The President is set to deliver his State of the Nation Address before the 20th Congress and the Filipino people today, July 28.
The Senate and the House of Representatives have held sessions early today ahead of the 4th State of the Nation Address of Marcos Jr. Each respective chamber had an election to determine who will be the Senate president and the House speaker in the 20th Congress.

With a 19-5 voting, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero won the Senate presidency over Sen. Tito Sotto who has also led the chamber during the 18th Congress. Several senators previously claimed that they see no problem in the leadership of Escudero and want him to continue leading the chamber.
In the House of Representatives, House Speaker Martin Romualdez also remained in his position. It was previously reported that over 270 members of the House were set to support the presidential cousin. Thus, both Escudero and Romualdez who were with seated beside Marcos Jr. during the previous SONA will have the same seats.

Several senators and members of the House arrived early at Batasang Pambansa for the annual event. Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez are taking the seats beside Pres. Bongbong Marcos as the SONA 2025 is being held.
However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is no longer expected to arrive for the Marcos SONA 2025 as she has previously confirmed her absence to the annual address of the President. She even claimed that there is no law that mandates Filipinos to listen to what the President has to say in response to the House telling her that it is allegedly part of her responsibilities to listen to the SONA.

Aside from Duterte, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos is also expected to ditch the SONA 2025 of her brother. According to the Senator, she prefers to distribute relief goods to the victims of the typhoon which she believes is a more important thing to do now.
Some members of the Duterte bloc in the Senate are also set not to attend the SONA of the President. They are senators Bong Go, Robin Padilla, and Bato dela Rosa.

Outside the Batasang Pambansa today, several groups of protesters as well as Marcos supporters gathered. The supporters of the President did not prepare a program but wanted to listen to the speech of the President together.

- Pres. Bongbong Marcos arrives at Batasang Pambansa before 3:30 p.m. He’s met by AFP Chief Romeo Brawner Jr.
- The Voice winner Sofronio Vasquez III leads the singing of the Philippine National Anthem.
- Marcos Jr. started delivering his SONA speech. After greeting some officials of the government present at the event, he called on the people to set aside political divisions and be one as Filipino people. He stressed that the 2025 Midterm Election results showed a failure on the part of the government.
- Pres. Bongbong Marcos vows government won’t stop until all Maharlika families will have a progressive status.
- Marcos Jr. called on the business sector to invest in the agriculture field.
- The President stressed that the government has already shown that the P20 per kilo rice is possible without the farmers being on the losing side.
- According to him, the government has increased the production of agriculture products including corn, banana, and many others.
- Pres. Bongbong Marcos vowed to boost the coconut industry in the Philippines. According to him, the government will push the planting of hybrid variants of coconut trees.
- Marcos admin to complete around 200 electric plant to boost electricity supply within the last three (3) years of his term.
- Marcos Jr. vowed to not let the electric problem in Siquijor pass. According to him, the investigation found expired permits and damaged generators among others. He ordered the energy department for the resolution in the situation as it affects the province’s situation.
- The President vowed that the education in the Philippines remains at the center of the administration’s priorities. According to him, more classrooms will be built and there will be laptops for the public school teachers. For teachers, excess in the teaching overload and overtime will be paid by the government.
- Marcos Jr. allots P1 billion for the building of child development centers across the nation. He also called on the Health department to secure the vaccines for the children.
- Around 1.5 million families have graduated from the 4Ps because their lives have been uplifted.
- The President called on the Filipinos to engage in sports and other activities that enhance physical health. He also asked the local government units to make the the public plazas open for the people.
- Pres. Bongbong Marcos sparked laughter from the audience when he mentioned PNP chief Nicolas Torre III as one of the “champions” in the field of sports.
- The President stressed that PhilHealth has widely expanded the coverage for the members which now includes emergency cases. He also vowed to speed up the medical assistance for the Filipinos through the egov app.
