Following the criticism from the vice president, DILG chief Jonvic Remulla has this to say.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said he won’t be making jokes for now.
Previously, the “walang pasok” posts announced humorously by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Facebook gained critical comments online. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Catibayan Remulla is currently the Secretary of the agency and expressed that it was just his way to lighten up the mood, and does not necessarily mean they are not taking matters involving public welfare seriously.

Remulla apologized for the posts and hoped that the public would understand. He explained, “Siguro hindi nila ako naiintindihan. Mabiro talaga ako. Hindi ko naman minamaliit ang pinaghihirapan nila. Ang ginagawa ko lang, ang pagpapaalala ay ginagawa kong mas magaan para hindi naman negative vibes lagi ang naririnig.”
Amid the buzz, Vice President Sara Duterte reacted and stressed that the agency must maintain professionalism in declaring class and work suspensions during inclement weather.
Recently, after receiving the comment from VP Sara, Remulla expressed that he will not be cracking jokes for now. In a post, he wrote, “Di na muna ako magbibiro. Kahit si VP, pinuna ako.”
The vice president highlighted that the person has the freedom of expression, but the “institution does not have the freedom of expression.” The DILG should accordingly learn to differentiate between personal and official communication channels.
