Senators Go, Dela Rosa, and Padilla Want Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Placed under House Arrest

RODRIGO DUTERTE – The ally senators of the former President filed a resolution seeking for his house arrest.

Last March 11, former Pres. Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). He is currently under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Duterte spent his 80th birthday inside the ICC detention facility. Recently, the family members of the former President claimed that he has grown massively thin due to loss of appetite.

Elizabeth Zimmerman, the ex-wife of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, claimed that he is so thin now to the extent of “skin and bones”. The former President is also weak and usually spends his time sleeping and watching television.

According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who confirmed that her father is “skin and bones” now, the public may have yet to see him as thin as he is now. Meanwhile, the Vice President claimed that she prefers the current physique of her father.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said the former President’s previous physique looks very unhealthy for his heart. According to her, they understand the concern of the supporters for his massive weight loss but it is really due to the loss of appetite.

Following the recent claims about the former President, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano filed a resolution seeking for house arrest for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. He also wants the Philippine government to urge the International Criminal Court to grant the ICC interim release bid of the former Chief Executive.

The Senator who is a known ally of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte cited his old age, deteriorating health, and prolonged social isolation in the resolution. Recently, more Duterte allies have filed another resolution calling for the house arrest of the former President.

Based on a post of ABS-CBN News on Facebook, senators Bato dela Rosa, Bong Go, and Robin Padilla filed a resolution seeking for the house arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. In the resolution, the Duterte ally senators cited the former President’s “old age, various medical conditions, and social isolation from loved ones”.

According to the senators, the factors cited may put the health of former Pres. Duterte “in danger of deteriorating further”. They stressed that the former Chief Executive has stressed that he will take accountability of the law and order during his presidency. Here’s the resolution as per the post:

Following Cayetano’s motion as well as a motion filed in the House of Representatives seeking to oppose the ICC interim release of the former President, Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio claimed that any Senate or House resolution regarding the case of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte allegedly won’t matter to the ICC.
