8-Month-Old Baby Passes Away in Tricycle & Motorcycle Accident
An eight-month-old baby tragically died in a tricycle and motorcycle collision in Dumangas, Iloilo.
On Monday morning (July 14, 2025), a tragic accident in Barangay Sulangan, Dumangas, Iloilo took the life of a baby, after a tricycle collided with a motorcycle that had suddenly fallen on the road.
The baby was being carried by his uncle while riding a tricycle when the accident happened. CCTV footage showed a motorcycle suddenly slipping and falling, crashing directly into the tricycle coming from the opposite direction.
The impact caused the tricycle to tip over, throwing its passengers onto the road. The motorcycle rider was also thrown off his bike but quickly got up and rushed to help the tricycle passengers, including the baby.
Unfortunately, the baby slipped from his uncle’s arms during the crash and fell to the ground. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Other tricycle passengers, including the driver, suffered minor wounds and were also treated. The motorcycle rider, who turned out to be just 15 years old, was brought to the hospital for medical attention and later turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) for proper handling, since he is a minor.
Police are currently talking with the family of the baby to determine what legal steps they wish to take regarding the young motorcycle rider. The incident has raised concerns about minors driving on public roads and the importance of safety for all road users.
The public is urged to follow traffic rules and ensure that only those qualified and of legal age are allowed to drive.
