Shuvee Etrata Faces Criticism W/ Grace Amid Maymay & Melai Comparisons
SHUVEE ETRATA – Sparkle star Shuvee Etrata finally addressed the ongoing comparisons between her and fellow Bisaya celebrities Maymay Entrata and Melai Cantiveros in a recent episode of Your Honor.
Shuvee Etrata has finally broken her silence regarding frequent comparisons made between her and fellow celebrities Maymay Entrata and Melai Cantiveros. Appearing as a guest on the July 5 episode of Your Honor, a YouLOL Originals vodcast, Shuvee bravely addressed sensitive questions posed by hosts Chariz Solomon and Buboy Villar.
Known for her distinct Bisaya accent, Shuvee has often been subjected to scrutiny from bashers online. In her guesting, she candidly discussed how these criticisms have affected her and how she chooses to respond.

In particular, Shuvee revealed that bashers frequently compare her personality and speaking style to that of Maymay and Melai, both of whom also hail from the Visayas region. Rather than taking offense, she chooses to see these comparisons in a positive light.
“Nung una I was always compared to Maymay [Entrata] and then even during PBB I was compared with Ate Melai [Cantiveros], so I take it as like constructive criticism nga po kasi sila nga po ay Bisaya rin,” she said in Your Honor.
She further reflected on the possibility that her mannerisms may resemble those of the two stars due to her exposure to their personalities on television.
“And it could be my nuisances are also [similar], siguro kasi napapanood ko rin sila before kaya ganito ako. It could be like that na subconsciously nakuha mo siya and then it’s just that I’m Bisaya. And then a lot of my friends are also like this.”

Despite the public scrutiny, Shuvee remains unfazed and focused on embracing her identity. Her honesty and confidence on Your Honor have resonated with many viewers, who admire her for standing up for her roots and individuality.
As the rising actress continues her journey in showbiz, her authenticity and strength in facing criticism prove that she is carving her own path—proudly, and unapologetically Bisaya.
