Regine Velasquez On Being An ‘Idol Kids Philippines’ Judge

Regine Velasquez talked about her new stint as a judge

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez was chosen as one of the judges of the Idol Kids Philippines, and here’s what she said about this stint.

Regine has become an icon in the entertainment industry. Aside from her singing career, she also found success in acting, and now, with her years of experience, she gets to share her talent with the younger generations of artists.

Regine was named as one of the judges of Idol Kids Philippines with Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, Power Diva Angeline Quinto, and singer-songwriter Juan Karlos.

In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Regine Velasquez has a lot on her hands, but she has been able to find a way to balance her responsibilities.

She admitted that it was kind of hard being a mom and doing various things, such as performing, and now being a judge. “It’s hard to balance being a judge and trying to correct them and also trying to be sensitive, kasi hindi mo naman mga anak iyon. You need to kind of balance it,” she explained.

Regine knows that kids struggle to process the things being said to them, especially the critique, because they have a short attention span. It was not easy for them to absorb the information given to them, including what they had to do with this information.

I feel like they just absorb it and put it somewhere in their brain,” the seasoned singer said. Even though this is a difficult thing, Regine shared that she would ensure that the kids would understand the feedback and the technical terms being said to them.

As far as judging is concerned, ‘yung correcting namin kailangan doon sa level nila, doon sa language na maiintindihan nila, doon sa emotions na kaya nilang i-digest,” the OPM icon shared.

Regine Velasquez also stressed the importance of being more sensitive with the words they use, and she admitted that this was a hard thing for her. It is because kids have a different level of understanding, as well as their emotions. On the other hand, they are hoping that their message will reach the kids.

Regine is a veteran “kontesera.” At a young age, she joined singing contests and eventually found her success.

It’s actually hard. Well, to begin with, bilang galing ako sa contest, mahirap na talagang maging judge especially nang tumanda ako kasi siyempre mayroon na akong nalalaman na mga technical terms,” she said.
