Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Asked about Future Plans in Political Career
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President said she prefers to stay silent about her 2028 political plans for her safety.
Recently, Vice Pres. Duterte has been the center of several issues from her controversial spending of the Confidential Funds to her impeachment, her travels abroad, and her future plans in her political career. Currently, countless Filipinos await if the impeachment trial of the Vice President will proceed in the 20th Congress.

The Senate impeachment court previously ruled to return the Articles of Impeachment against Duterte to the House of Representatives. The senator judges raised the issue of constitutionality and required a reconfirmation from the 20th Congress.
In her response to the summons of the Senate impeachment court, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said the impeachment case against her “must be dismissed” with an accusation that it is unconstitutional. She also called the impeachment case against her as “nothing but a scrap of paper”.

Eighteen (18) senator judges voted in favor of returning Duterte’s Articles of Impeachment to the House of Representatives. Speaker Martin Romualdez described the Senate’s move to return Duterte’s impeachment as “deeply concerning”.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero maintained that the remand of the Articles of Impeachment does not mean that the case is dismissed or terminated. He also stressed that both the House and Duterte should respect the decision of the impeachment court.
Eighteen (18) senator judges voted for the remand of Duterte’s impeachment to the House. Only five (5) of the senator judges were not in favor of the controversial motion.

Despite the pronouncement of Pres. Bongbong Marcos that he is against the impeachment, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and her camp have always believe that the Marcos administration allegedly wants her out.
In a live television interview on Russia Today, the Vice President accused the Chief Executive of wanting to stay in power or his family in power so his administration allegedly wants to eliminate her as the “frontrunner” in the 2028 presidential elections.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Malacañang tagged Duterte’s move as allegedly a “diversionary tactic” to cover the issues surrounding her like the controversial spending of the confidential funds. The Palace reminded the Vice President of her responsibility to answer the issues against her as a public official.
Amid the questions if she will run for president in the 2028 Elections, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said she prefers to stay mum for her safety. She claimed that she is already allegedly being pinned down by the Marcos administration from being the target of the political attacks to being removed from office.
“Well, I can’t answer that because they might kill me,” the Vice President said when asked of her future political plans.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the Marcos admin may allegedly plan of eradicating her “so that the administration’s problem is over, note the administration, not the people’s problem”.
Previously, amid the remand of the Articles of Impeachment, Pres. Bongbong Marcos reiterated that he has no role in the impeachment process of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He stressed that his time is spent on things that would benefit the country and the Filipino people like the projects of the government.
