Addicted to “Scatter”? Cebu Man Arrested for Attacking Live-In Partner
SCATTER – A man from Cebu was jailed after a heated argument over the online game “Scatter” turned violent.
A 29-year-old man from Naga, Cebu, has been arrested after allegedly assaulting his live-in partner following a heated argument involving the online game “Scatter.”
According to Brigada News Philippines, the incident took place on June 23 at Purok Ilaya, Barangay Tuyan. The suspect, identified only as Satur, allegedly attacked his 24-year-old partner, Mae, after she questioned him about using her e-wallet to fund his gameplay.

Mae stated that the suspect borrowed her cellphone, and she suspected that he used her e-wallet to play on Scatter, eventually leading to an argument and to the assault.
He seems addicted to Scatter, Mae told Brigada News, explaining that his obsession with the game had caused repeated tension in their relationship. She expressed concern about the growing impact of his behavior, noting how it had escalated to violence.
Despite the physical assault, Mae disclosed that she does not intend to pursue formal charges against Satur. Instead, she aims to handle the matter within the community.
“I would like a formal agreement to be made at the barangay so he continues to support our two children,” Mae said, emphasizing her desire to prioritize their children’s welfare while still ensuring her partner is held accountable.
Barangay officials are expected to mediate the drafting of the agreement, which will lay out expectations for financial and parental responsibility.

Meanwhile, local authorities are urging the public to seek peaceful and constructive means of resolving domestic conflicts. They highlighted the importance of open communication and counseling, especially when children are caught in the middle of such disputes.
This incident sheds light on the growing concerns over online gaming addiction and its potential impact on family life. As platforms like Scatter continue to gain popularity, experts warn of the importance of setting boundaries to prevent these games from interfering with relationships and personal responsibilities.
