Marimar was originally played by Latina star Thalia. When Mexican and Spanish telenovelas gained popularity in the Philippines, a Marimar adaptation was made.
In 2007, Marian Rivera gave life to the Filipino adaptation of the said series. Her popularity skyrocketed because of that. She was given more major projects after being the Pinay version of Marimar.
In a recent Facebook post, the wife of Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes shared a post reminiscing about the time when she got the iconic role. She said that it was indeed a dream come true for her. So many things have changed after that, and she received countless blessings.
“Through every trial and experience in my journey, I’ve been strengthened by faith. I am forever grateful for everything, surrendering all to Him,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
Marian also thanked everyone who supported and prayed for her in her journey. “Mahal ko kayo,” she added.
