Statement of Malacañang after VP Sara Duterte Flies To Australia
Malacañang was asked about the possible violation that Vice President Sara Duterte has allegedly committed over her recent travels abroad.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently flew to Australia where she is set to join a rally calling for the release of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The former Chief Executive is currently detained under the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte recently marked his 100th day in ICC detention. The former President is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity over his administration’s war on drugs.
After the 2025 Midterm Elections, Vice Pres. Duterte flew to Qatar to meet the Duterte supporters there and then went to The Hague, Netherlands for scheduled visits to her father. Afterwards, she was spotted in Malaysia where she joined a Philippine Independence Day celebration with the Filipino community there.

At the said event, Senator Robin Padilla even campaigned for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos in 2028. According to him, he will be the campaign manager of Marcos and Duterte whom he called “the next president of the Philippines”.

Recently, it was announced by the Office of the Vice President flew on a personal trip to Australia. Malacañang was asked about the possible violation that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte may have committed over her recent travels abroad.

Based on a report on Manila Standard, Malacañang press officer Atty. Claire Castro claimed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is allegedly violating her obligation to the people with her recent travels abroad. She stressed that it is the choice of the Vice President if she chooses to be busy on her trips.
“Ang kanya lang sigurong malalabag ay ang kanyang obligasyon sa taumbayan… So, kung doon po abala ang ating Bise Presidente sa mga personal trips niya o personal trips with her family, choice po ng Bise Presidente iyon,” Castro said.
Based on the report, the Malacañang official further said that there is nothing that can be done if Vice Pres. Sara Duterte prefers her travels abroad. Meanwhile, she stressed that the Filipino people are seeing what the elected leader is doing.
Recently, the Office of the Vice President reacted to the invitation sent by the House Secretary General’s office to the 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The OVP informed the House Secretary General that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will not attend the annual event.
Malacañang reacted to the absence of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte in the upcoming 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. It will be the second time that she will ditch the annual event.
