Tension erupted between Robin Padilla and Joel Villanueva, and the former apologized for his apparent aggressiveness.
Senator Robin Padilla apologized to Senator Joel Villanenueva for his apparent aggressiveness towards him in the Senate.
During the previous day’s plenary session, there was reportedly a tension that erupted between Senators Robin Padilla and Joel Villanueva. In the session, the senators were discussing the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The tension arise when Villanueva objected to the motion of Sen. Bato Dela Rosa to dismiss the impeachment complaint against Duterte. They were seen being pulled away from each other with Dela Rosa holding Padilla and Binay restraining Villanueva.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano remarked, “Misunderstanding lang,” when Padilla was heard saying, “Oh ano?”
Later on, the two senators were seen hugging and they were joined by Dela Rosa. According to reports, Padilla approached Villanueva and apologized for his apparent aggression.
Senate President Chiz Escudero reacted to this and expressed that tensions, such as what happened between the two senators, were just normal. He had seen several highly politically-charged processes, including impeachment, and what occurred was normal as it was also normal that emotions were high during the debate, since senators felt very deeply about the issue.
“Hindi ko na kinailangan pang kausapin sino man dahil sila na mismo ang lumapit sa isa’t isa, napanood niyo rin naman, at nung medyo lumamig ay humiling ng pag-unawa sa nangyari,” Escudero said.
Meanwhile, regarding the impeachment of Duterte, the senators voted for the articles to be returned to the House of Representatives, however, this does not mean that the case is dismissed or terminated.
Summons were still issued to the vice president.
