Imee Marcos Hopes Brother Bongbong To Hear ‘Bring Duterte Home’ Calls

Sen. Imee Marcos Meets w/ Duterte’s Lawyer in The Hague

IMEE MARCOS – The reelected Senator expressed her hope that her brother, President Bongbong Marcos, will hear the call over the return of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Following the May 2025 Elections, Sen. Marcos went with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to The Hague, Netherlands where the Vice President is scheduled to visit her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Duterte. The elder Duterte is detained under the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Amid the controversial arrest of Duterte that caused political turmoil in the Philippine government, presidential sister and Sen. Marcos took the side of the Duterte family over her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She is one of the people who call and hope for the return of the former President in the country.

In The Hague, Sen. Imee Marcos met with the lawyer of Duterte saying they will bring him home. The lead counsel of the former President is British-Israeli lawyer Nicolas Kaufman.

Aside from Kaufman, the ICC legal team of Duterte also includes French lawyer Dov Jacobs. No Filipino lawyer is officially part of the legal team of the former President. The confirmation of charges against the former President is scheduled on September 23.

According to the Presidential Sister, she learned from the history of the country and she did not spend years to be wrong again. Aside from going to The Hague, she previously led a Senate investigation on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte and asked the Ombudsman to probe five (5) officials of the Marcos administration.

While it is unclear if it was a jest or not, Sen. Imee Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously had a deal that the people, with the Vice President’s endorsement, will reelect the Senator while she will bring home the former President.

In The Hague, Sen. Imee Marcos also spoke before the Duterte supporters who gather outside the ICC detention facility. She led the call for the return of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte as she expressed her hope that it will be heard by her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

“‘Di po tayo papayag ng ganito. Higit sa lahat, ‘Bring him home’. Hanggang sa Maynila. Lakasan ninyo ang sigaw, ‘Bring him home’. Iuuwi po natin ‘yan. Sana marinig nilang lahat pati ang aking kapatid,” she said based on the post.

The Senator was not allowed by the ICC to see the former President. Meanwhile, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte said her father, Rodrigo, is thankful to Sen. Imee Marcos and even wish to talk to her.
