BONGBONG MARCOS – The President said he is open to reconcile with the Duterte family but Vice Pres. Sara Duterte refused to talk about it.

The feud between the Marcoses and the Dutertes is no secret to the Filipino populace. Since Vice Pres. Sara Duterte left the Marcos cabinet and her position as the education secretary, the Vice President has been releasing tirades against the Chief Executive.

The recent arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who was brought to The Hague, Netherlands also triggered the feud. He was arrested by the Philippine authorities last March 11 and is now under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte believes that Pres. Bongbong Marcos must be held accountable for allegedly committing an “impeachable offense” over her father’s arrest. Duterte and several supporters of their family claimed it was allegedly a betrayal of public trust.

In the 2025 Midterm Elections, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos endorsed different candidates for senator. The Marcos administration backed the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate which the President called his “dream team”.

Vice Pres. Duterte endorsed the senatorial candidacies of presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos, Las Piñas district Representative Camille Villar, and the #Duter10 of the PDP-Laban. The Presidential Sister sided with the Duterte family in the issue over the former President’s arrest.

According to the Senator, she cannot accept what was done to the former President who is a Filipino citizen. She opened an investigation in the Senate and asked the Ombudsman to probe five (5) officials of the Marcos administration.

Recently, following the 2025 Midterm Elections, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that he is open to reconcile with the Duterte family. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about the remarks of the Chief Executive.

Duterte is currently in The Hague to visit former Pres. Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President refused to speak on the reconciliation remarks of the President. According to her, what is important now is the Filipino people.

“Hindi muna ako magsalita about reconciliation dahil hindi naman mahalaga ang mga personal na problema ng mga yao. Ang mahalaga ay iyong taongbayan at ang bayan natin,” she said.

Sen. Imee Marcos accompanied the Vice President and her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, in The Hague. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, former Pres. Duterte is thankful to Senator Imee and he even wants to talk to her.
