Woman Causes Scene in Makati City After Spotted Coming Out from Drainage Canal
A woman who was spotted coming out of a drainage canal in Makati City goes viral and garnered various reactions from netizens.
Recently, William Roberts or known as iammrthirty, an Instagram user, shared a photo of a person coming out of a drainage canal at the corner of VA Rufino and Adelantado Streets in Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City. The strange sight elicited reactions from the online community.
Robert who was walking in the area said he was surprised when he saw a head pop out from the canal. After climbing out, the person quickly ran away from the scene.
Following the online buzz, authorities went to inspect the canal and decided to seal it with concrete on Tuesday afternoon (May 27, 2025). This move was part of the city’s effort to address concerns raised by the public after the viral photo.
The Makati City Police, along with the IDMS Tracker Team, launched an investigation and visited the site. Inside the canal, they found pieces of cloth and metal, suggesting someone may have been staying there.
Authorities later identified the person as a homeless individual who had likely been using the canal as shelter.
To ensure public safety, the police coordinated with the Makati Commercial Estate Association. They also reached out to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local barangay to help locate and assist the person, who remains missing as of now.
According to reports, the individual only returns to the canal at night. In response, police presence in the area has been increased to maintain safety and monitor any unusual activities.
Authorities continue their search, aiming to offer the person proper support and prevent similar incidents.
