Will Vico Sotto Run for President? Danica Sotto Reveals Her Heartfelt Stand
DANICA SOTTO – Actress and TV host Danica Sotto recently opened up about her brother Vico Sotto’s growing influence in politics and the possibility of him running for president in the future.
The Sotto family has long been one of the most well-loved clans in Philippine showbiz and politics. Known for their strong family ties and mutual support, they continue to stand by one another through both triumphs and challenges.
“Bossing” Vic Sotto remains one of the country’s comedy legends, while his son Oyo Sotto, with Dina Bonnevie, has taken on a new chapter as the host and director of their family YouTube program House of D. His daughter, Danica Sotto-Pingris, has carved her own name as an actress, TV host, and entrepreneur. Meanwhile, Vico Sotto, Vic’s son with actress Coney Reyes, has earned admiration as one of the country’s most respected young political figures.

In a recent interview with ABS-CBN News, Danica Sotto opened up about her immense pride in her younger brother’s accomplishments as the mayor of Pasig City. “Sobrang proud ako kay Vico,” she said, calling him a “true public servant.”
She reflected on Vico’s sense of purpose, recalling how even after his oath-taking, he continued to push for reforms. “Nung oath-taking niya, sinabi niya, hindi pa tapos ang laban. He didn’t stop there. Hindi siya na-secure na parang, ‘Okay. Nakaupo na ako. Quiet na ulit.’ Hindi. That’s how you know that he’s not after the power. A true public servant is ready to serve, and I feel that’s what he’s doing.”
Danica also described Vico as a humble leader who stays grounded despite his growing popularity. “Makikita mo naman kahit sa mga interview. Naka-ID [siya]. Kasi gusto niyang iparamdam na, ‘I’m also an employee. Like you guys. And I’m here to serve.’ And doon ako pinaka-proud din sa kanya. And si Vico, sobrang humble. Ayaw niya ‘yung pinupuri siya. ‘Yung ganoon. Nahihiya pa nga siya kapag napi-praise siya.”
She added that her brother’s motivation comes from a genuine desire to create change. “And I feel it’s really because he really wants to make a difference. And pagod na siya sa bulok na sistema. ‘Yung parang bata na gusto na talaga ng change. Proud ako pero ayaw ko rin siyang i-pressure,” she said.

When asked about the possibility of Vico running for president someday, Danica replied with faith and caution. “Ipinagdarasal ko kung ano ‘yung will ni Lord. Kasi alam ko ‘yung feeling na ‘yung parang lahat ng tao… pero in a way baka napi-pressure rin siya. So I don’t want him to parang feel more pressure or ‘yung feeling na mahinog sa pilit. ‘Yung timing ni God — yes — is all that I want for him. Will and ‘yung plano talaga. And I know God has amazing plans for him.”
Meanwhile, Dina Bonnevie expressed her admiration for her son’s leadership, saying, “I wish there would be so many Vico Sottos in every municipality. Sana lahat ng mayor ay katulad niya.”
