Senator-Elect Erwin Tulfo Confirms Escudero, Sotto Want To Talk to him
ERWIN TULFO – The Senator-elect expressed that he still has to talk to his brother, Senator Raffy Tulfo, over the Senate Presidency.
Shortly after the Commission on Elections or COMELEC proclaimed the winners of the 2025 Senatorial Race, former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto expressed that he is open to lead the upper chamber again if he has the numbers.

Sotto was one of the senatorial bets of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago slate that was endorsed by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Six (6) of them from the senatorial slate of the grand alliance made it to the Top 12:
- Vicente “Tito” Sotto
- Erwin Tulfo
- Panfilo “Ping” Lacson
- Camille Villar
- Pia Cayetano
- Lito Lapid

Following his victory in the senatorial race, former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto admitted that he is open to lead the upper chamber again if he has the numbers. He was the chief of the Senate from May 2018 to 2022.
Senator-elect Tito Sotto even confirmed the talks about the Senate presidency. According to him, there are people who pledged their support to him if he will seek the leadership in the Senate.
Currently, the Senate is lead by Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero. He was the chief of the upper chamber since May 2024. Recently, amid the speculations on who will be the Senate President in the incoming 20th Congress, Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo confirmed that both Escudero and Sotto allegedly want to talk to him.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo said he has yet to commit his support to either Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero or Senator-elect Tito Sotto as he wants to talk to his brother, Sen. Raffy Tulfo, first.
“Tingnan ko pa. Pareho sila inimbitahan ako. They want to sit down with me,” Tulfo said referring to Sotto and Escudero.
Based on the report, Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo said that he and Sen. Raffy Tulfo may have different preferences for the Senate leadership but he wants to consult with his brother first. He stressed that he needs more time for it.
“I still have to make my conclusion kung kailangan magkasundo kami, kaya nga I need more time to consult… Electing the wrong person will get us nowhere,” he said.

Previously, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero reacted to the remarks of Senator-elect Tito Sotto over the Senate presidency.
