Ricky Davao, a celebrated Filipino actor and director, died on May 1 at age 63 due to complications related to cancer. His daughter Ara confirmed his passing on social media, noting he passed away peacefully surrounded by the people he loved.

During the first night of his wake, several celebrities appeared. Davao’s former wife, Jackie Lou Blanco, John Arcilla, Vina Morales, Nanette Inventor, Mitch Valdez, Cory Quirino, Leah Navarro, Michael de Mesa, Bobot Mortiz, Joey Reyes, Laurice Guillen, Agot Isidro, Rio Locsin, and Efren Reyes Jr., among others, were there.

His wake is at Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Jackie Lou was at ASAP when it paid tribute to the actor. Recalling the actor when he was still alive, the actress shared that he was the one who was always happy and kind. Despite their separation, they remained friends, and he was a good father to their children Kenneth, Rikki, and Ara.

The separation did not affect his relationship with their children. She said, recalling him, “Si Ricky very masayahin, mahilig kumanta. Ang biro nga namin ng mga anak ko, e, parang mayor, e. Kasi talagang he had such good energy. Laging tumatawa, laging nagpapatawa.”

After their separation, they were still able to celebrate their children’s birthdays together and even have trips together.

She added, “We may not have ended up together but we co-parented and we had so much love for each other bilang naging magkasama kami at sa mga anak namin.”

For his daughter Ara, he was full of jokes, deeply supportive, and his love was seen and felt through his actions.

To recall, Jackie Lou and Ricky tied the knot in 1989 but separated in 2011, which was 22 years after being together.
