Cong. Paolo Duterte Speaks on Senatorial Bets of Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte for May 2025 Elections
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former Philippine President is endorsing 12 senatorial candidates amid his detention under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The May 2025 Midterm Polls is fast approaching in the Philippines. Amid the nearing elections, the candidates are busy in campaigning to the people in the pursuit to win more votes. There are also known personalities in politics who have their own set of senatorial candidates they support.
Recently, Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte who is now in The Hague to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte inside the ICC detention facility spoke on his father’s senatorial bets after talking to the former President. According to him, aside from the PDP Laban bets, the former President also endorses the senatorial bids of two (2) more candidates for senator.
Congressman Pulong said FPRRD also supports the senatorial bid of retired military official Ariel Querubin and former Sen. Gringo Honasan based on a post on Facebook. The recent addition makes the senatorial candidates endorsed by the former President 12.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is the chairman of the PDP Laban and its current president is Senator Robin Padilla who flew to The Hague to see Duterte. However, it is unclear if the ICC allowed the Senator to visit the former President for the ground of being political allies.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also endorses the senatorial bets of the PDP Laban but the other two (2) senatorial candidates that she endorse are not Querubin and Honasan. The Vice President is endorsing the senatorial bids of Sen. Imee Marcos and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, the daughter of business giant Manny Villar.
Previously, through his common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte told the Filipinos to just forget him if they will forget his PDP Laban bets in the upcoming elections. The Pinoys in The Hague were quick to affirm their support to the senatorial bets of the former President.
