Authorities Arrest Man for Threatening Ex-Girlfriend w/ Leaking Private Videos
A man was arrested in Marikina City after allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend with death and the release of her private photos and videos.
The situation reportedly started after the woman, identified as “Cel,” stopped communicating with the suspect.
According to Cel, the threats began when she cut off contact. The man started sending disturbing messages, saying he would harm her because she was ignoring him. Things escalated when he created a group chat, added several of her relatives, and began sending the explicit content there.
“Binantaan niya ako na papatayin dahil nga ilang araw na kaming hindi nag-uusap, hindi na rin ako nagpaparamdam sa kanya,” Cel said.
It caused deep stress for Cel and her family, as some of her relatives reacted emotionally, which seemed to provoke the suspect even more. Fearing for her safety and privacy, Cel sought help from the authorities.
The National Bureau of Investigation’s Organized and Transnational Crimes Division launched an entrapment operation. They were able to arrest the suspect at a convenience store where he worked. During the arrest, authorities also found illegal drugs in his possession.
The man reportedly admitted to the crime and apologized to his former partner. However, for Cel, the damage was already done. She shared how the experience left her traumatized, not just for herself but for her entire family who got dragged into the situation.
“Trauma talaga kasi hindi lang din sa akin, sa mga kamag-anak ko. Makulong siya at sana hindi na rin talaga siya makapambiktima ng iba pang babae na tulad ko,” the victim said.
Authorities have filed charges against the suspect related to sextortion, as well as violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Cel hopes that justice will be served and that the suspect will no longer be able to harm other women in the future.
The incident emphasizes the importance of protecting one’s privacy and the need for stronger action against digital threats and harassment.
