Foreign Tourists Expressed Dismay After Being Robbed While Visiting Tourist Spot in Cebu

Two foreign tourists were robbed while sightseeing at the Temple of Leah, a popular tourist spot in Cebu City.

A video captured the two tourists who placed their bag on the ground while taking selfies at the scenic spot. Believing their bag was safe nearby, they continued enjoying the view and snapping photos.

The area was filled with people, many of whom seemed to be tourists as well, taking photos just like them.

However, what the tourists didn’t realize was that some of the people around them were actually thieves pretending to be fellow visitors. These thieves were working together in a group and carefully planned the theft.

In the video, one man can be seen eyeing the bag, while others moved around casually, positioning themselves near the victims. One of the thieves acted as a “screen,” blocking the view of the bag, while another quickly snatched it and passed it to an accomplice. The group then walked away unnoticed.

The stolen bag reportedly contained P350,000 in cash, $90 in US currency, important items, and the tourists’ passports.

The victims immediately reported the incident to the police. Based on the investigation, there were around eight suspects involved. After stealing the bag, they escaped using two taxis. One of the taxi drivers is now helping authorities to track down the group.

Police are continuing the investigation and working to identify and capture the suspects. Tourists are also being reminded to always keep their belongings close and stay alert, even in popular and crowded places.
