Authorities Arrest Taxi Driver and Barker for Charging P10k to French Tourists at NAIA

The police authorities have arrested a taxi driver and a barker for charging P10, 000 to three French tourists at NAIA.

Three French nationals were supposed to return to Malate in Manila when a barker named Mark Anthony Superable offered a taxi. The foreigners agreed and accept the barker’s offer.

Superable called Johnny Bungulan to give rides to the foreign nationals. The barker also gets into the vehicle and takes a ride together with the foreign passengers. Upon reaching the Skyway, the barker told the foreigners to pay $200 or P10, 000.

However, the French nationals refused to pay the amount because it was too big for the service. The driver and the barker threatened them while holding a knife and steel pipe. The three agreed to pay out of fear.

A day after the incident, the foreigners returned to Ninoy Aquino National Airport to report the incident to the airport police. The authorities caught the suspects who were also hanging out at the airport during that time.

The suspects even tried to escape from the authorities and even hit the police officer at the airport. Eventually, the authorities were able to corner and arrest the suspect.

Superable and Bungulan will face charges of attempted homicide, resistance, and disobedience to a person in authority, unjust vexation, grave coercion, and violation of the duty to procure a license.
