Robin Padilla Worries About PDP-Laban Senatorial Candidates Due To Duterte’s Situation

Robin Padilla shared how important Duterte’s presence is for the 2025 elections

Senator Robin Padilla expressed concern about the senatorial candidates of PDP-Laban because of the current situation of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Padilla is the current president of the political party, and Duterte is the most prominent figure. However, as the election period is ongoing in the Philippines, the former Chief Executive had to be in the Netherlands after he was arrested due to his controversial drug war.

Padilla was among the political supporters of Duterte who went to The Hague to rally behind the former President.

In a recent statement, based on the article in Abante, Sen. Robin Padilla expressed that he was still devastated by what happened to FPRRD.

He also stressed that they badly need the former President for the election campaign. “Kailangan namin si Rodrigo Duterte. Eh ngayon, ‘yung aming number on crowd-drawer, eh nakakulong. So papaano naman po kami niyan, hindi naman po kami milyonaryo, hindi po kami bilyonaryo. Wala pong pera ang PDP,” the actor-turned-politician said.

Padilla also stressed that if Duterte is present, they do not need to worry about transportation and food, as well as campaign materials, because supporters would give these in abundance.

“Kaya ko po nasabi na para kaming inalisan ng ulo, kasi po ‘yung aming ulo, na nasa kanya po lahat ng katangian para dumating ang tao, eh wala po, nandito nakakulong sa malayong lugar… kaya kami po sa ngayon, sa totoo lang po, eh para po kaming manok na walang ulo na paikot-ikot,” the Senator said.

In this year’s midterm elections, only two of the 9 senatorial candidates of PDP-Laban were included in “Magic 12,” the list of candidates who entered the pre-election survey.

In another interview, Padilla said that they were still in disbelief that FPRRD was arrested. “Bakit tayo nakarating dito? Me¬ron tayong sariling batas, meron tayong sariling gobyerno hindi ko hanggang ngayon maintindihan,” he said.

Meanwhile, in one of the gatherings of Duterte supporters in the Netherlands, Atty. Harry Roque, who is also a supporter of FPRRD, introduced Senator Robin Padilla as “future vice president” which meant that he would be the running mate of Vice President Sara Duterte in the next presidential elections.
