However, behind his evident confidence on stage, Alden Richards admitted that he felt pressured. In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, the actor revealed that he was so nervous back then.

Malala po kasi first fashion show ko po yon,” Alden revealed. After eight years, he was the one who opened the show. On the other hand, he is thankful to Bench owner Ben Chan and his team for the opportunity given to him.

But nakaka-pressure po siya kasi everyone was expecting so much of me because I’m gonna be opening the show,” Alden admitted.

The actor also shared the meaning behind his outfit during the fashion show. It has some connection to Richard Gomez, who has the same first name as him. Alden is Richard Faulkerson in real life.

He shared that the night before the show was the only time he knew what segment he would do. “So that’s a [1989]… the first-ever campaign of Bench, for Kuya Richard Gomez. So, yun ang suot niya habang nagsasagwan. So, nakadagdag pa po sa pressure, talaga naman,” Alden explained.

After learning about this, when he went home, he really checked his body to see if he could pull off that kind of outfit. The actor was referring to Richard Gomez’s first TV commercial for Bench, and that was in 1989. Richard was wearing a white sando when he was rowing. This was referred to as “Sculler,” a term for a person holding oars.

Talking about the audience’s reaction, Alden Richards said that his level of excitement rose because when he woke up that morning, he was so nervous. Since it was his first fashion show, his excitement was so intense, He worked out that morning and had a haircut.

But the experience was surreal. I think I would consider it as one of the highlights of my year today, and I am just so happy I did it,” Alden said.
