Boy Gets Stranded Alone in Middle of Sea After Falling Asleep in Kayak

A 10-year-old boy in Hainan province, China, found himself stranded alone in the middle of the sea after falling asleep in his kayak.

The boy had originally set out to catch squid, but exhaustion took over, and he dozed off while floating on the water. Strong winds and massive waves carried him far from shore, creating a life-threatening situation that even experienced fishermen would struggle to survive.

By the time he woke up, he had drifted nearly 30 kilometers away from the shore. Despite his efforts to paddle back, the rough sea conditions made it impossible for him to return on his own.

“Even adult fishermen would hardly survive in such conditions, let alone a child. He was very lucky,” Local rescue team captain Luo Wen said.

Thankfully, a group of fishermen spotted the boy struggling in the open water. They quickly pulled him aboard their fishing boat, noticing that he was weak, sunburned, and severely dehydrated after spending more than 24 hours stranded at sea.

The boy, overwhelmed with fear, tearfully explained that he had lost his way after being swept away by the waves.

“He was very scared at the time, crying and saying that he had gone out to fish squid but couldn’t find his way home,” Wen added.

The fishermen provided him with food and water before contacting local authorities. After receiving medical attention, the boy was safely reunited with his family. Officials are closely monitoring his condition and have assured that psychological counseling will be available if needed.

The boy was incredibly fortunate to be found in time, as conditions that day were too dangerous for even experienced fishermen.
