Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks at Alyansa‘s Campaign Rally in Tacloban
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President expressed his stand on fighting drugs and crime during a campaign rally in Tacloban.
Now that the 2025 Midterm Elections is fast approaching, several incumbent politicians are spending time to endorse their bets in the upcoming poll. Pres. Marcos is leading the endorsements of the senatorial bets of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago.

The Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago is a grand alliance of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the Lakas-CMD, the Nacionalista Party, the National Unity Party (NUP), and the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC). Here are its senatorial bets:
- Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos
- Makati City Mayor Abby Binay
- Senator Pia Cayetano
- Sen. Lito Lapid
- Sen. Francis Tolentino
- Senator Ramon āBongā Revilla Jr.
- former Sen. Manny Pacquiao
- former Senator Panfilo Lacson
- former Senator Vicente Sotto III,
- Deputy Speaker Camille Villar
- former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo

However, during the recent campaign rally of the Alyansa in Tacloban, Sen. Imee Marcos skipped the rally citing her feelings towards the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. According to the sister of the president, she cannot accept what was done to FPRRD.

On Monday, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) authorities upon his arrival from Hong Kong. It was reportedly due to the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court or ICC.
The ICC is investigating the controversial war on drugs of the Duterte administration for several years now. An arrest warrant was recently issued and the former President is accused of crimes against humanity.

On the same day of his arrest, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was flown en route for the Netherlands to face the accusations against him. Pres. Bongbong Marcos earned countless criticisms for allowing the arrest of his predecessor.
According to Marcos, the government just did its job. He stressed that the arrest was in a legal manner. MalacaƱang also defended the President saying he did not betray anyone over the government’s compliance with the Interpol.

Recently, at a campaign rally of the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago in Tacloban, Pres. Bongbong Marcos gave a remark that is seemingly a swipe at former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He spoke about “killings” in the pursuit to fight crime and drugs.
”Sa laban naman sa kontra droga at sa krimen, hindi po natin kailangang dumaan sa madugong solusyon… Hindi po tama ‘yun,” Marcos Jr. said.
Based on a report on GMA News, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also expressed that no one under the Alyansa believes that killing thousands of people is the solution to the problems of crime and drugs in the country.
At the Hague, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte addressed his supporters through Vice Pres. Sara Duterte telling them to just relax. He stressed that it will end and there is a “day of reckoning for all”.
