Authorities Raid Cold Storage Warehouse in Bulacan for Reprocessing Expired Imported Meat into Siomai and Hotdogs
Expired imported meat was allegedly found being reprocessed into siomai and hotdog in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Recently, the police authorities raided a cold storage warehouse in Meycauayan, Bulacan, discovering a shocking operation involving expired imported meat
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Central Luzon Regional Office, armed with a search warrant, found boxes of frozen meat worth around P600 million. Many of these were already spoiled, moldy, and unfit for consumption.

According to informants, some of the meat had expired as early as 2020 and 2021. Instead of disposing of it, the company allegedly reprocessed the expired products. The old labels were replaced to make the meat appear fresh, then ground and turned into siomai and hotdogs.
“Marami nang black spots, may inaamag na, may inuuod na talaga. Para ma-save nila yung kanilang produktong expired ay nire-reprocess nila, they are re-labelling the products to make it appear na hindi pa ito expired. Gini-grind at ginagawa nilang siomai, hotdog,” NBI agent
NBI Agent Aires Manaloto confirmed that the meat showed clear signs of spoilage, with black spots, mold, and even maggots. The reprocessing of these expired products poses serious health risks to consumers. Eating spoiled meat can lead to food poisoning and other serious illnesses.

NBI Central Luzon Regional Director Jun Carpeso emphasized that expired meat should never be reintroduced into the market. Since it is no longer safe for human consumption, its sale is illegal and dangerous.
Meanwhile, the company’s legal representative, Atty. Oliver Santos, denied the allegations. When asked about the presence of spoiled meat in their warehouse, he stated that they would address the issue in the proper legal forum.
To prevent any of the confiscated meat from reaching the market, NBI Director Jaime Santiago ordered its immediate disposal. The company may face charges for violating Republic Act 7394, also known as the Consumer Act, in relation to the Food Security Act.
Authorities continue their investigation to ensure the safety of consumers and to hold those responsible accountable.
