Netizen Warns Public About Danger of Gambling Addiction
GAMBLING – A netizen, who openly admitted to falling into online gambling addiction and ending up deeply in debt.
Recently, the Facebook page “PESO SENSE” shard a post of an anonymous netizen about the consequences of gambling addiction. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
The individual opened up about falling into a cycle of debt and despair after becoming addicted to online gambling.
Introduced to online gambling by her boyfriend in May 2024, she initially wagered small amounts, such as P10 or P20. Occasionally, she experienced wins, but the losses were far more frequent.
Despite this, she continued playing, increasing her bets in hopes of recovering her losses. As her greed grew, she started cashing in larger amounts, eventually betting P1,000 to P2,000 per game and losing up to P5,000 daily by late 2024.
Unable to sustain her gambling, she turned to loan apps, a habit she described as a destructive routine. Borrowing, losing, stressing, and borrowing again became a vicious cycle. Over two months, she estimated losing more than P30,000, a devastating amount for a working student.
In total, she accumulated P40,000 in losses, a sum she realized could have been spent on essentials or given to her family.
She acknowledged the shame and isolation brought by her addiction, describing how it strained her emotional and financial stability. With debts now totaling P38,000, payable in four months, she resolved to turn her life around by focusing on repaying loans and managing her savings, which remained untouched despite the ordeal.

“I’m in debt now because I got addicted to online gambling. Boyfriend ko ang nag-introduce saakin ng online sugal last May 2024. Noong una 10-20 pesos lang ang pinapanglaro ko.
