Find Out the Real Reason Why Chavit Singson Drops Out of Senate Race
CHAVIT SINGSON – Find out the real reason why Chavit Singson unexpectedly drops out of the Senate race.
Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has announced his decision to withdraw from the senatorial race in the upcoming 2025 national and local elections. The 83-year-old politician cited health concerns as the primary reason for his withdrawal, delivering the news during a speech to his supporters on Sunday evening.
“Matapos ang mahabang pag-iisip, ang desisyon ko po, hindi na po ako tutuloy sa aking kandidatura sa Senado (After much deliberation, my decision is that I will no longer proceed with my candidacy for the Senate),” Singson said.
Chavit Singson emphasized the demanding nature of campaigning and the responsibilities of a senator, saying, “Hindi po biro ang pagkampanya, lalo na ang isang trabaho ng isang senador… Ayokong ipilit kung ang aking kalusugan ang maaaring magdusa (Campaigning is no easy task, especially the responsibilities of a senator… I don’t want to force it if my health might suffer).”
Singson revealed that he was recently hospitalized due to pneumonia, a condition that highlighted his need for rest. “Sa totoo lang, tumakas na lang ako sa ospital dahil ayaw nila akong palabasin. Bagamat nagamot nila ang pneumonia, kailangan ko raw ng mahabang panahon ng pahinga (To be honest, I had to sneak out of the hospital because they wouldn’t let me leave. Although they treated my pneumonia, they said I still need a long period of rest),” he shared.
According to the report, the veteran politician filed his certificate of candidacy on October 7, landing the 58th spot on the ballot released by the Commission on Elections on January 5. Despite his withdrawal, Singson expressed gratitude to his supporters and assured them of his continued service to the public in other capacities.
Singson’s decision marks a significant turn in the political landscape as the 2025 elections approach. Known for his colorful political career and contributions to Ilocos Sur’s development, his absence from the senatorial race will be felt by his supporters nationwide.
