Cat Dragged by Tricycle in Pangasinan Sparks Outrage
ANIMAL ABUSE – A poor cat was caught on camera being dragged at the back of a tricycle in Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
Animal lovers and netizens condemned the tricycle driver caught on camera in a viral video dragging a cat in Malasiqui, Pangasinan. The video was posted by a concerned resident named Ken.
In the video, Ken can be heard yelling at the driver, pointing out that the cat was in pain and struggling. Despite his shouts, the tricycle kept moving until Ken went ahead to block the driver and make him stop.

“Nakita po namin na kinakaladkad niya yung pusa. Hindi pa rin po puwedeng gawin sa mga hayop ‘yon yung kinakaladkad lang ganun-ganun lang,” Ken said.
When confronted, the driver casually said he was planning to abandon the cat. Ken was heartbroken by what he saw, saying it was unacceptable to treat an animal that way.
Animal welfare groups were equally upset. Advocates from groups like the Animal Kingdom Foundation and PAWS called out the act as cruel and urged everyone to report such incidents immediately to authorities.
“Napaka-cruel… purposely talaga. Apparently, very clear na ito [ang pusa] ay kaniyang tinorture o tino-torture at that time, so it’s really super unacceptable. Napakasakit sa puso panoorin,” Animal Kingdom Foundation program director Atty. Heidi Caguioa said.
Barangay officials later found the injured cat and gave it the care it needed. Luckily, the cat is now recovering. As for the driver, a 71-year-old man, he was brought in for questioning. He claimed his poor hearing made him unaware of what was happening.
The driver also explained that the cat had apparently scratched or bitten someone, so he decided to get rid of it.
“Ngayon meron na raw nakalmot yata o nakagat di ko pa sure ha kung nakalmot o nakagat which is pinaggastusan nila. Ngayon ang balak daw niya yata i-a-ano, iwawala ililigaw o itatapon,” Austria said.
