Pinoy Seafarer Contracts HIV After Having Affair w/ Colleague’s Wife
A seafarer contracted a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after allegedly having an affair with the wife of a colleague.
Recently, the Facebook page “Marino Ph” shared a heartbreaking story of a 22-year-old seafarer, named Kevin, about how he contracted HIV. He revealed that his condition started after he had an affair with the wife of one of his colleagues.
Kevin explained that in July, he returned home to the Philippines, and as part of a typical tradition among seafarers, he helped deliver packages for his fellow workers. On the day he arrived, he finished his office report and sent out packages, but there was one left—his colleague’s package for his wife.
Kevin got a friend request from his colleague’s wife, which he accepted, and soon they started messaging each other about the delivery.
As their conversation went on, she began sending flirtatious emojis. Kevin noticed them, and this made him feel uneasy, but he agreed to meet up with her anyway. She suggested they meet in Vito Cruz, which was nearby.
At first, he hesitated but eventually said yes, and when they met, things quickly escalated. After the meeting, they went to her condo, and Kevin later admitted that he became physically involved with her.
Months later, in October 2024, Kevin started feeling sick with a high fever and rashes. After a doctor’s recommendation, he took an HIV test, and it came back positive. Kevin was devastated and regretted his actions.
The seafarer shared his story to warn others about the dangers of making wrong decisions. He now receives treatment for his condition and has a message for his colleague, asking him to get tested before he comes back home to avoid spreading the virus.
