She started young in the show business industry and is doing well when it comes to being an actress, singer, endorser, model, and performer. Maris Racal Family
She is Mariestella Cañedo Racal who grew up in Davao Del Norte. She was born on September 22, 1997, and the fifth of six children of Henry and Leony Racal.
Maris Racal Educational Background
She finished high school at Mary’s College in Tagum City and dreamed of becoming a doctor. While in showbiz, she enrolled for a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology as her pre-med course at the Trinity University of Asia but had to stop as he career was taking off. She has busier schedules but despite this, her desire to finish her degree remains intact.
Maris Racal Showbiz Career
At the age of 16, she joined the fifth season of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother: All In edition. She was dubbed the Singing Sunshine ng Davao and emerged as the Second Big Placer at the end of the season.
This is where her destiny to become a star started. After her PBB stint, she signed a deal with Star Magic. She became a member of It’s Showtime’s all-girl dance group Girltrends and ASAP’s BFF5, a sing-and-dance group.
It’s been a decade since she joined and in this span, her biggest break was as Irene Tiu of the series Can’t Buy Me Love and this was the same series where her love team with Anthony Jennings rose to prominence.

As an actress, she started in Hawak Kamay, and after this, projects and film opportunities came to her. She starred in TV series including Maalaala Mo Kaya, Ipaglaban Mo!, Oh My G!, and Ningning, and in films like Halik sa Hangin, Just The Way You Are, and The Breakup Playlist.
She also starred in three movies — Block Z, Boyette: Not a Girl Yet, and the 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Isa Pang Bahaghari.
Relationship With Rico Blanco
In 2021, Maris admitted that she was dating Rico. She expressed, “Kami po ni Rico. I think basing sa post na ginawa ko, I think it’s very obvious.”
They became official pre-pandemic lockdown and their story started after their 2019 collaboration. However, three years after the confirmation, Maris announced that she and Rico had broken up.
Last July 12, 2024, Maris confirmed that she and Rico broke up after five years of being together.
“In our five years together, we were always on the same page, always on the same page. But I don’t know what happened to me. Maybe I turned to the next page, and saw a new perspective on life,” she said.
Love Team and Issue With Anthony Jennings
Currently, Maris and Anthony are facing infidelity issues after the latter ex-partner Jam Villanueva exposed the intimate messages. The private messages acted out like fire in their career, slowly burning the success they built losing one endorsement after another.
Before the issues, they were admired as a love team. Racal and Jennings first teamed up in the TV series “Can’t Buy Me Love” as Irene and Snoop, respectively. Their tandem instantly clicked as their onscreen chemistry appealed to people.
