PAGASA Says Amihan and Shear Line to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies and northeast monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (November 21, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shear line will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that amihan and shear line will bring cloudy skies, and rains over extreme Northern Luzon.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy weather conditions with rains over Batanes. The shearline will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Babuyan Islands.
“Today, still expect cloudy skies over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. It will also be accompanied by light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the effects of the northeast monsoon. So make sure to bring an umbrella,” Estareja said
“From afternoon to evening, the sky will be slightly cloudy to cloudy, especially in the eastern sections of Luzon, accompanied only by isolated rains or lightning and thunder,” Estareja explained.
The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
“In a large part of Eastern Visayas, that condition won’t last long, and for the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, partly cloudy skies are still there, and would last until the afternoon,” he added.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. Moderate to rough coastal waters are expected over the rest of Northern Luzon.
Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over the remaining parts of the country, according to PAGASA.
