Live-In Couple in Quezon City Arrested for Alleged Robbery
A live-in couple was arrested after allegedly breaking into an establishment along FPJ Avenue in Quezon City.
According to police, the suspects were caught on CCTV on the second floor of the building on Sunday night. The footage showed the man walking around as if searching for something. Moments later, he was seen taking a CPU from one of the computers.
The establishment’s owner discovered the robbery the following morning when the padlock on the door was missing. Upon entering, they found that some equipment, including parts of a printing machine, had been stolen. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at P123,000.
“Na-discover nila pagpasok nila sa umaga na yung establishment nila pinasok and nalaman nila may mga nawalang gamit particularly parte ng machinery nila,” Masambong police station commander PLt. Col. Jewel Nicanor said.
Following a hot pursuit operation, the police arrested the couple on Monday afternoon along Araneta Avenue, Quezon City. Investigators used CCTV recordings to identify the suspects, which led to their swift capture.
Recovered from the suspects were the stolen items, including the CPU and printing machine parts.
Further investigation revealed that the male suspect had been jailed three times previously, including for violations of illegal drug laws and cable theft. The female suspect was also found to have a history of arrest related to illegal gambling.
During questioning, the male suspect admitted to the crime, claiming desperation due to financial struggles. However, the woman denied involvement, stating that she tried to stop him but was unaware of his actions beforehand.
“Nagawa ko lang po yon dahil sa hirap ng buhay dahil sa pangangalakal lang din namin, wala kami makuha pangkain… Nilagare ko po yon establisimyento,” the male suspect explained.
The couple now faces charges of robbery as authorities continue their investigation.
