Class Suspensions for Wednesday (November 20, 2024) Due to Aftermath of Typhoon Pepito
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units have declared class suspensions due to the aftermath of Typhoon Pepito.
On Wednesday (November 20, 2024), several areas in the Philippines are taking a break from classes after the chaos brought by Super Typhoon Pepito. With floods still affecting many communities and cleanup operations in full swing, local officials decided it’s safer to keep students at home for now.
Pepito brought intense rain and strong winds that left some areas flooded and many families displaced. Adding to the problem, Magat Dam released water, causing rivers to overflow and turning streets and neighborhoods into waterways.
While recovery is ongoing, schools in several provinces have suspended classes to ensure everyone’s safety.
Here is the list of areas covered by class suspensions:
No Classes at All Levels (Public and Private Schools)
- Echague, Isabela (suspended until November 23)
- Licab, Nueva Ecija
- Camarines Sur:
- Caramoan
- Garchitorena
- Lagonoy (northern coastal barangays)
- Siruma
- Tinambac
No Face-to-Face Classes (Preschool to Senior High School, Public Schools Only)
- Tuguegarao, Cagayan
Localized Class Suspensions (Specific Schools in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija)
- Sta. Lucia Elementary School
- FB Mesina Elementary School
- Don Cirilo Acosta Elementary School
- Felicidad Buendia Elementary School
- EBANHS (High School)
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council the trio of Nika, Ofel and Pepito affected around 1.8 million people, forcing over 450,000 to evacuate. Sadly, eight lives were lost, and 25 people were injured.
The multiple typhoons this month causes huge damage to homes, crops, and infrastructure has been estimated at P478 million.
While life slowly returns to normal, safety remains a priority. Families in affected areas are encouraged to stay tuned for updates.
