Pulse Asia Survey Finds Sen. Robin Padilla as Top Senatorial Choice

ROBIN PADILLA – The Senator leads the 2028 senatorial election survey amid the pronouncement that he has no plans to run in the next poll.

Political issues undeniably hook the headlines nowadays. The ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte has elicited different stands not only among the ordinary Filipinos but even among the senator-judges. Sen. Padilla is one of those who are vocal that he’s not in favor of the trial.

Sen. Robin Padilla was previously criticized for allegedly helping Sen. Bato dela Rosa “escape” which he denied. The actor-turned-Senator repeatedly claimed that he and Dela Rosa were only walking out of the Senate then at the height of the alleged firing incident and no one stopped them.

Padilla also claimed that he will not speak about the whereabouts of Dela Rosa even if he knows it. A complaint for alleged obstruction of justice was filed against the Senator before the Ombudsman.

According to Sen. Robin Padilla, his wife and young kids are not used to charges and the complaint filed against him is an obstacle. The complaint was filed by civic leader Kiko Aquino-Dee, the grandson of the late former Senator Ninoy Aquino Jr. and former Pres. Cory Aquino.

Padilla was severely criticized for allegedly helping Dela Rosa “escape”. The Department of Justice said that the arrest warrant against the former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief is valid and he is now considered as a fugitive.

Amid the criticisms against Sen. Robin Padilla, based on News5, the recent Pulse Asia survey result found the Senator leading the 2028 senatorial race. It has a margin of error of ±2%. The result came amid Padilla’s claim that he has no plan to run for a government post in the next election.

Based on the post, the Pulse Asia survey was conducted between June 28 until July 3-6. A total of 2,400 respondents engaged in the nationwide survey. The following names also floated as preferred senatorial candidates in the 2028 polls next to Padilla:

  • Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto
  • Sen. Raffy Tulfo
  • Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano
  • Sen. Loren Legarda
  • Former Sen. Manny Pacquiao

Recently, amid the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Sen. Robin Padilla challenged his fellow senators to disclose their bank records.
