Here’s what Liza Soberano said about her parting ways with James Reid’s company.
Actress Liza Soberano has been trying to penetrate Hollywood and part of this journey is leaving Careless and here’s what she said about it.
To recall, it was early September when rumors about Liza Soberano not being under Careless anymore surfaced online. Careless is a company producing music owned by James Reid and the company that welcomed Soberano when she left ABS-CBN and Star Magic.
A couple of weeks after the rumors surfaced, Careless confirmed Liza’s departure. It was in July 2024 when she officially left and the company wished her the best in her endeavors.
In a previous article, James spoke about Liza and according to him, she left because they have different visions. Their paths in terms of what she wanted to happen in her career are not aligned anymore.
“We have different, I guess, career paths. She’s more focused on her US career, going to Hollywood, all of that. And we’re more focused on the Philippines. Music, local,” Reid said.
Recently, Soberano also spoke about this. She was on the cover of the Preview, and in the feature about her, she shared that Careless was more into music.
Despite what happened, she is thankful to both Reid and Jeff Oh because the chance they gave her made her find the voice she needed in the entertainment. She grew as an artist and an entrepreneur in ways she could’ve never imagined.
Currently, she is managed by the US-based agency Transparent Arts. This is the same agency that helped her have her role in Lisa Frankenstein. A few months ago, she also signed up with Verve.
Leaving Careless was a part of a bigger plan. She expressed, “In L.A., the market is so much bigger, so everyone has to fend for themselves. It can be a lot of work managing all of that, but it’s honestly very liberating knowing that I’m capable of all of it.”
