Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Shows Up at House Hearing
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President straightly expressed that she will “never again” team up with the Marcoses in the future elections.
Following several recent incidents that sparked headlines, countless people are wondering on the real ties between Vice Pres. Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Vice President resigned from the Marcos cabinet in June.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). Initially, she explained that her decision is due to her compassion for the teachers and the students.
Not long after her resignation, Vice Pres. Duterte admitted that there are both personal and work reasons why she left the Marcos cabinet. She also claimed that she and the President have not talked and seen each other for a while.
At the height of the search operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City, Vice Pres. Duterte apologized to the KOJC members for seeking their support for Marcos in the 2022 Elections.
The intensified search ops to find the Pastor which include drilling activities inside the KOJC compound took place under the Marcos administration. The statement of the Vice President to the KOJC members has reached the Chief Executive who admitted he does not understand the move.
Recently, after notable instances of heated arguments with the Senate and the House of Representatives members during the deliberation of the 2025 budget proposal of the Office of the Vice President, Duterte showed up at a House hearing meant to discuss her fund use.
However, at the hearing, she accused the inquiry as not about misuse of fund and accountability. She tagged it as allegedly a personal attack to her. She also left the hearing early. The media had the chance to ask the Vice President.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked if she considers joing forces with the Marcoses again in the next elections. To this, the Vice President has a straight answer:
“Never again,” Duterte said.
Based on the report, the Vice President further claimed that she and Pres. Marcos started as running-mates in the election and there was no friendship prior to it. She stressed that they only talked during the campaigns and about work.
“Ang kaibigan ko talaga si Senator Imee Marcos, kilala niya ako since 2012,” Duterte said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte described her relationship with Pres. Marcos. She also previously claimed that she’s allegedly on a mistaken belief of “unity”.
