Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda reacted to Eat Bulaga host Joey de Leon’s joke about ABS-CBN.
Joey is known for his controversial jokes. In an episode of the longest-running noontime show on TV5, the veteran host and comedian made a joke about the Kapamilya Network that angered some viewers.
This happened last April 23, when Mister Pampanga 2026 candidate RJ Perkins was a guest on the longest-running noontime show in the country for the “The Age is Right” segment.
Here, RJ’s plus size was discussed in the male pageant he participated in, which went viral on social media when he entered the swimwear competition.
While Bossing Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza were interviewing RJ, Joey de Leon suddenly interrupted and had a dialogue, “Saka hindi na uso yung abs. Wala na nga yung abs, e.”
Joey de Leon’s statement might just be a normal statement, but Bossing Vic knew what he wanted to say, as he said that the former meant a different thing. Then, the Henyo Master said, “Ay, ABS-CBN pala yun, sorry, sorry.”
In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, Vice Ganda said that he was not able to watch that statement.
“E, siyempre, hindi natin masasaklawan ang komedyante. Hindi rin natin masasaklawan ang reaksiyon ng mga taong makakarinig ng joke,” he said.
The Unkabogable Star also said that Joey is a comedian, and it is his job to bring comedy to his audience. “So, that’s life, di ba? E, komedyante si Sir Joey, nag-joke siya. E, trabaho niya yun. Nagdyo-joke siya,” Vice said.
Meanwhile, Vice also expressed his thoughts on the new ordeal his mother network is currently going through. His fellow Kapamilya artists, including Angel Locsin, have previously expressed their sentiments.
“E, for the longest time, wala naman akong ibang puwedeng gawin kundi ipagdasal ang ABS-CBN, di ba? Magmula pa noong natanggalan ng prangkisa yan, di ba? So, wala naman akong ibang puwedeng gawin kundi ipagdasal sila at suportahan sila at manatili akong kasama nila habang lumalaban sila sa mga pagsubok nila, yung ganu’n,” he said.
Vice Ganda is also hopeful that the issue will be resolved because many people will benefit if the situation returns to normal.
