An 18-year-old pregnant Grade 12 student may face theft charges after she was caught allegedly shoplifting at a mall in Cebu.
On the afternoon of April 23, 2026, a pregnant lady was caught in shoplifting beauty products inside a large mall in Cebu City.
The student, identified only by the alias āLoisa,ā was reportedly six months pregnant and living in difficult circumstances with her partner, who is also still a student. According to police reports, the incident happened inside a mall in Barangay Pahina Central at around 4:50 p.m.

Mall security guards allegedly noticed the student acting suspiciously while inside the store. They monitored her movements and later stopped her after she exited the mall without passing through the cashier area.
When security personnel checked her belt bag, they reportedly found several unpaid beauty products from different cosmetic brands.
Authorities said the total value of the items reached P11,689. The recovered products included face powders, skin tint, foundation, lip and cheek tint, eye shadow, and other makeup items.

The student was later brought to the Carbon Police Station for proper investigation and filing of possible charges. She is currently under police custody while authorities prepare the case against her.
Based on reports gathered by local media, the student admitted that financial problems pushed her into making the wrong decision. She reportedly struggled to pay for medical laboratory tests and prenatal checkups related to her pregnancy.
Grade 12 student also shared that she and her boyfriend had been facing personal and financial difficulties as young students preparing for parenthood.
Her family is now asking the mall management if they can simply pay for the items taken so the student would no longer have to stay in jail. Reports also stated that the young woman experienced stomach pain due to stress while inside the detention cell.
