What is the Relationship between Sual Mayor Dong Calugay and Former Mayor Alice Guo?
DONG CALUGAY – The Sual, Pangasinan Mayor denied having romantic ties or being business partners with former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is now back in the Philippines after she was arrested in Indonesia. The Indonesian authorities located and arrested her in a rented apartment in Jakarta.
Guo was able to leave the Philippines despite having multiple complaints filed against her. She reportedly exited the country and went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and then met her family in Singapore. She moved to Indonesia where the Indonesian authorities were able to trace and arrest her.
Now that she’s back in the Philippines, Guo is under the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP). It was expected that she will be under the custody of the Senate but a case was filed against her. According to the authorities, she will remain in the custody of the PNP while she has yet to post bail.
As for Department of Justice or DOJ Secretary Boying Remulla, he believes that Alice Guo must be under the custody of the immigration bureau. It previously confirmed that deportation charges have been filed against former Bamban Mayor Guo.
Meanwhile, despite her custody being under the PNP, the Court allowed Guo to attend Senate hearings. Recently, she appeared at the inquiry set by the upper chamber where a politician linked to her, Sual, Pampanga Mayor Dong Calugay, was asked about their real ties.
The lawmakers got curious about the real ties between Calugay and Guo after they found out that it was a staff of the Sual, Pampanga Mayor named Cheryl Medina who processed the notarization of the counter-affidavit of the former Bamban Mayor. It happened when she was already out from the Philippines.
Sual Mayor Dong Calugay denied having romantic ties with former Mayor Alice Guo. He also denied that they are business partners. According to the Sual, Pampanga Mayor, they’re just friends.
“Magkaibigan lang… Hindi ko po sya girlfriend,” Mayor Dong said.
At the Senate hearing, Senator Risa Hontiveros asked about the businesses in Sual, Pampanga with names that may be linked to Mayor Dong Calugay and former Mayor Alice Guo. Here are some of the business names:
- Licsel Fish Farm
- Guco Aqua Farm
- Donquo Fish Farm
“Wala po akong ganyang negosyo po,” the Sual, Pampanga Mayor claimed.
On his denial, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada teased that Calugay and Guo appeared to be emulating the loveteam of Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. The Sual, Pampanga Mayor asserted that he only has a “trucking” business.
“Tinalo nyo pa si DongYan ah? Mede-deny n’yo pa ba ito?” the Senator said.
