PAGASA Says LPA and Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a potential LPA and habagat will bring rain over parts of the country.
On Friday (August 30, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Habagat and possible low-pressure areas will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that cloud clusters spotted east of Mindanao may intensify into a low-pressure area (LPA) within 24 hours. It may enter the Philippine area of responsibility and bring rains to many parts of the country.
“Hindi natin inaalis ang tiyansa na maging low pressure area ito sa loob ng 24 oras at pumasok din ng ating PAR,” Estareja said.
The cloud clusters may also cause rains in the first few days of September in many parts of the archipelago.
“At possible, sa mga unang araw Setyembre, ay magdala ito ng mga pag-ulan sa ating bansa, lalo na sa Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao,” he added.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Ilocos Region, Cavite, Batangas, and Negros Occidental will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar conditions over the rest of the country.
The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
The coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warnings were raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
