Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Real Ties w/ Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid Issues

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President responded to the question asking her relationship with Pres. Bongbong Marcos now.

In 2022, running-mates Marcos and Duterte both emerged as victors in their respective election race. They called for “unity” among the Filipinos towards a new Philippines. However, it seems like the President and the Vice President are not working in unity now.

More than a month ago, Vice Pres. Duterte resigned from being the secretary of DepEd or the Department of Education. She did not specify the reason behind her resignation but stressed that it is out of her concern for the teachers and students.

Duterte also left her post as the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict. The Vice President said that there are both personal and work reasons in her decision in leaving the Marcos Cabinet and her position in DepEd.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos accepted the resignation of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The Chief Executive also expressed acceptance of the Vice President not rejoining his Cabinet saying that it is her decision.

Duterte is undeniably involved in several issues lately. The issue between her and the Philippine National Police sparked several headlines. It stemmed after the PNP relieved 75 cops who were assigned for the security of Duterte.

Vice Pres. Duterte previously expressed that their mother said that Baste Duterte will run for president in 2028. As for her, she was told to run for the mayoralty position in their hometown, Davao City. However, she maintains the lead in surveys conducted to determine potential presidential candidates.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was asked about her relationship with Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President said that she has no label for it and they are no longer talking.

“Wala na akong label sa relationship namin ngayon. Hindi na kami nagkikita at hindi na kami nagkausap,” the Vice President said.

Amid the tirades of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, on Pres. Marcos accusing him of drug use, Vice Pres. Duterte backs her brother’s proposal of random drug testing among government officials.
