PAGASA Says Habagat to Bring Heavy Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring heavy rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (August 6, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA expert Rhea Torres reported that the southwest monsoon will bring moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds over Metro Manila and eight other areas in the next two hours.

Heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, residents of Bulacan, Quezon, Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Bataan, Zambales, Laguna and Pampanga.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan in Luzon, and Western Visayas.

“Kung makikita natin dito sa may satellite image, ay may mga makakapal po na kaulaapan na posibleng magdulot ng maulan na panahon dito sa ilang bahagi ng southern Luzon at Kabisayaan,” Torres said.

Warm weather condition is expected over the remaining parts of the country.

“Sa nalalabing bahagi po ng ating bansa, although may namamataan tayo na kaulapan, hindi naman po sila tumatagal so most likely magiging mainit pa din po ang panahon,” Torres said.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area was last spotted 835 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon. It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

The weather agency advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides for possible flash floods and landslides.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” the weather bureau said.

Pagasa did not raise any gale warning over any seaboards of the country.
