Over the past few days, Jude Bacalso has become one of the most discussed topics online for making a waiter stand for hours as punishment for addressing him as “Sir”. The LGBT customer was criticized for his actions.
Recently, Alvin Suan, a host at an event in 2017-2018, recounted his unsettling encounter with Jude Bacalso. He was tasked with being the emcee at an event where Bacalso was a guest. He recalled a moment when he was asked to approach Bacalso for an intermission.
In a simple mistake, Suan addressed Bacalso as “sir,” which led to a sharp reaction from the writer. Bacalso reportedly threatened Alvin, saying she would slap him if he used the term “sir” again.
This reaction was accompanied by a stern look and an arched eyebrow, creating an awkward and embarrassing situation for Alvin in front of Bacalso’s friends, who laughed at the exchange.
Despite his apology, addressing Bacalso as “ma’am” instead, the situation left Alvin feeling humiliated. He was criticized by Bacalso’s friends, who noted the writer’s unpleasant behavior. The viral LGBT member’s friends seemed to be aware of his temper, and the incident left Alvin feeling deeply embarrassed.
Suan mentioned that this was his first experience of being publicly ridiculed and scolded, which deeply affected him. He noted that during the event, Bacalso’s behavior was dismissive, referring to him and his provincial background with derogatory terms like “lago,” meaning dirty in Cebuano.
