Enhanced Habagat Causes Widespread Flooding in Metro Manila

Metro Manila Experiences Widespread Flooding Due to Enhanced Habagat

The enhanced habagat or southwest monsoon causes widespread flooding in various areas of the National Capital Region.

On Wednesday morning (July 24, 2024), Metro Manila experienced massive flooding due to the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina. The combined effects of Typhoon Carina and enhanced habagat have caused serious flooding and potential landslides in some areas.

PAGASA issued a red rainfall warning, indicating serious flooding in low-lying areas of the capital region and several other locations. The red warning indicates torrential rains that have already led to severe flooding in various parts of Metro Manila.
