Fake Doctor Arrested After 20 Years of Deceiving Patients

NBI Agents Arrest Fake Doctor After Deceiving Patients for 20 Years

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – A fake doctor was arrested for practicing medicine and deceiving patients for 20 years without a license.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a 61-year-old man for practicing medicine without a license. The suspect was giving out prescriptions, providing consultations, and delivering babies for the past 20 years

A former staff member exposed that the suspect had been pretending to be a doctor. A former employee of the suspect approached them and revealed that her previous employer was not a licensed physician, according to the NBI Public Corruption Division Chief Atty. Cath Nolasco-Illescas.

Fake Doctor

“Tumatanggap siya ng mga pasyente, nagbibigay siya ng mga medical advice. Tapos nagrereseta siya at nagtitinda din siya ng gamot dun sa kanyang klinika,” said Illescas.

For two decades, the suspect managed to convince many patients that he was a qualified doctor. He not only provided medical consultations but also performed deliveries and prescribed medications. His long-standing deception came to an end with his arrest.

The suspect admitted that he had taken the Medical Licensure Examination twice but failed both times. He claimed that his intention was to help people despite not having the necessary qualifications. The NBI has filed multiple charges against the suspect.

Fake Doctor

“Kakasuhan namin siya ng estafa, dahil nga nagpapanggap siya ng doktor kahit na hindi naman siya lesinsyadong doktor. Nagrekomenda rin kami na kasuhan siya ng illegal practice of medicine under the Medical Act,” she said.

The fake doctor will also face charges under the Philippine Pharmacy Act since he was selling drugs at his clinic.

The suspect’s arrest has brought relief to many who were unknowingly putting their trust in an unqualified individual. The NBI continues to encourage the public to report any suspicions of fraudulent activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
