Ai-Ai decided to cutdown her showbiz workload in the Philippines to be with her pilot husband, Gerald Sibayan, in the United States. In San Francisco, California, she worked as an artistic director of an elderly facility.

According to Ai-Ai, the residents at the elderly facility did not know that she resigned. She also did not bid farewell to them as she does not want the elders to feel sad but some of her co-workers in the facility were saddened by her resignation.
“Nag-surprise party sila para sa akin. Kaya nga sabi ko sa farewell speech ko, ‘Sana, kapag nag-retire ako sa showbiz, sana ganito rin ka-warm ang party, lahat may magagandang sinabi,'” the comedienne said.
The work of Ai-Ai at the elderly facility gave her an important lesson to love and take care of parents. According to the actress, she saw that the elders were not visited by their family and when their family visits them, they also get depressed as they want to see their families daily.
