Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Eastern Samar, April 11, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 5.1 magnitude quake in Eastern Samar today, April 11, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Dinagat Islands earlier today, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Eastern Samar earlier today has a magnitude of 5.1.
The earthquake today that struck Eastern Samar at 12:20 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2024, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Eastern Samar was located at 11.89°North, 125.95°East – 053 km South 73° East of Dolores in Eastern Samar. It had a depth of focus of 025 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake but there may be aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake and as well as the nearby areas. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

- Leyte, Carigara, Mahaplag, and Albuera, LEYTE
- Villareal, SAMAR
- Sogod, SOUTHERN LEYTE
Intensity II
- Alangalang, Abuyog, and Hilongos, LEYTE
Intensity III
- Can-Avid, EASTERN SAMAR
- Dulag, LEYTE
