Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Dinagat Islands, April 8, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.0 magnitude quake in Dinagat Islands today, April 8, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur a few weeks ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake that hit Dinagat Islands today with a magnitude of 4.0.
The earthquake today that struck Dinagat Islands, Monday, April 8, 2024, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Occidental Mindoro was located at 10.20°North, 125.76°East – 023 km North 50° East of Basilisa. It had a depth of focus of 018 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake neither aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake and as well as the nearby areas but Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
